Commissions

Initial Consultation:
We begin with a conversation about the portrait's intent, scope, and general vision.

Contract & Deposit:
I draft a contract outlining your expectations, my responsibilities, the timeline, and other key details. Once the contract is signed, a 10% deposit is due—this typically takes place at the reference photo session.

Reference Photo Session:
I take photographs to work from and begin envisioning composition options based on our discussion.

Composition & Study Phase:
I develop several composition proposals, followed by small color studies and head studies for your approval. Color studies are a few inches wide and establish the composition and color harmonies.

Composition Approval & Completion of Painting:
Once a final composition is approved, a 40% payment is due. This allows me to begin work on the final painting.I typically do not share process photos, but the earlier studies should provide a reliable preview.

Delivery & Unveiling:
Delivery of the painting can be done however you'd like, but traditionally there is an official unveiling, perhaps as a small get-together. The remaining 50% of the payment is due at this point, assuming no further changes are required.
